About Special Treasures Foundation

Special Treasures Foundation Ltd is a company limited by guarantee and part-fulfilment of the vision of Special Treasures Childcare Ltd.

It is a not-for-profit organisation set up in 2011 to provide Children/Family Centres anywhere in the world for the purpose of the prevention and relief of poverty, not only by providing food and education but also through providing healthcare and life skills for overall development, with an emphasis on Christian values.

It is the continuation of work already started by the childcare establishment (Special Treasures Childcare Ltd) which, during the years of its existence (from 2004), has supported charitable work in Ethiopia, Haiti and other territories in the Caribbean.

This organisation was born out of a desire to fulfil our duty to humanity and live out the Biblical obligation to look after the outcasts and underprivileged in our communities. Its name ‘Special Treasures’ was taken from Exodus 19:5 Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine.

Mission

Our aim is to establish Children/Family Centres anywhere in the world where the need exists and resources are available. The centres are meant to facilitate the vision of the foundation which is outlined and expressed through its F.E.E.D. programme:

Food -supplying nourishing/balanced meals for the children in their care.

Education – providing basic literacy and numeracy skills for life, eventually supporting (by sponsorship) recipients into the local education system where possible.

Evangelisation – sharing the Good News of the Christian faith to recipients, however not coercing them to listen or accept it, and showing how its principles relate to enhancing everyday life.

Development – training /mentoring children and providing them with life skills to develop holistically, with the ability to build and maintain a sustainable community. Hence we also seek to provide/pursue on their behalf such necessities as clean water (e.g. bore holes), electricity (e.g lobbying governments/ pursuing solar energy) and roads in to their communities. To aid in fulfilling this vision, the foundation sees the need to construct purpose built facilities in given territories comprising a kitchen, an educational centre (with library, conference room, classrooms), medical centre, and dormitories with land for crops and animal farming.
